stage two - extreme hunger & binge eating???

stage two: extreme hunger and binge eating

so after two weeks of eating 2500-3000 calories, i noticed that i was ravenously hungry.

what the heck? i was already eating a fully nutritional meal plan. why was i still this hungry?

i felt hunger pangs, and my growling stomach would not keep silent. feeling more afraid, i could not ignore it. i was the one in control, but now my body was taking over. i used to not eat, and now i eat? i cannot possibly have moved from one extreme end to another.

in my experience, i ate over 5000-10,000 calories for the next three weeks straight. whenever i describe that experience to someone, they would never believe me. i remembered that i would search up calorie calculators and enter in my weight and activity levels in order to know how much weight i would have gained from eating that large amount. i thought that i was going to become obese.

all the calculators said that i would become 94 to 110 in a matter of two weeks. i freaked out. this led me to an important decision:
  • was i going to relapse?
  • was i going to keep going?
both options were clearly unattractive, as i wanted to stay away from my old habits but also wanted to avoid my "binges."

if this is occurring to you, do NOT PANIC. no, i did not go from 94 to 110 in a matter of weeks. in fact, i only ended up at 98 in a matter of three weeks. this is where science plays in.

HYPERMETABOLISM

after eating large amounts, your metabolism will spike like crazy because your body is thinking, what the heck? you once gave me no food, and now i have consumed all of this. it takes a lot of energy to churn all of the food in your stomach, and your digestive system is not keeping up with the demands. you heart is beating much faster, and you are probably feeling much more hotter than usually. all of that food was not being absorbed in you digestive system, and it was being released as heat or as dump. also, the food that you ate will not automatically become part of your fat storage. it will go straight to most damaged organs and muscles. thus, if you have noticed that most of your weight gain is on your torso, do not fear: that is where your important organs are located.

overall, what i am trying to conclude is that your metabolism will become insanely fast, which will not allow you to gain over 10 pounds in two weeks, so dont freak.

when will it go away?
this is the question that everyone wants to know the EXACT answer for. when i was in the middle of recovery, i kept searching this question up. i had to break the spell, i thought to myself. i did not want to binge eat as my final answer.

extreme hunger varies from weeks to months, depending on your situation. in my case, it lasted for merely three weeks straight. it was horrible because i had to deal with school at the same time, so i was tired all the God damn time.

however, i must be raw and real with you. you have to be careful when distinguishing between binging and extreme hunger. extreme hunger was when i did not feel satisfied after eating a meal. in other words, i did not feel full but still hungry after eating a shake, fries, and a burger. i even once ate a whole large dominos pizza, three tacos, a slushie, and two boxes of m&ms in ONE DAY (i was at a sleepover, and my friend was deeply shocked that i ate A WHOLE PAN PIZZA).

binging was when you did feel full, but you kept going till you were sick. i realized that some of my eating events were partially binging and some were extreme hunger moments.
- apparently, there was that "all or nothing" mentality stuck within me.
- i still had a diet mentality (letting go of something of 3 years was a bit hard)
i needed to fix this before continuing to have this habit in the long run.

so how do i fix it?
